Vimshottari Dasha Order II
So now we have a portion of the order: Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars explained.
At n = 3 we get Y = 2.8 AU and here is where it gets interesting. There should be a planet here but there isn’t. There is something more interesting at 2.8 AU from the sun: the Asteroid belt. The asteroid belt could have been a planet or a planetoid (its combined mass is about 4% of our moon), but for the gravitational impact of Jupiter. We can even say, that this hypothetical planet, lost a planetary war with Jupiter. This hypothetical planet losing the war, functionally displays the characteristics of Rahu. Thus, the measurement of impact and fruits of the time of Rahu (the mathematical point on the ecliptic) is assigned at 2.8 AU. It is very interesting to ponder on the fact that the Asteroid belt is included in the Dasha system and that we have a physical representation of a planetary war!
At n = 4, and n = 5, we get the exact points of Jupiter and Saturn from the sun. It is interesting to note that this equation stops working after Saturn and does not explain the Neptune and Uranus orbital distances as there are other exogenous forces at play included impact of the Kuiper belt etc. These outer planets are simply harmonics of Jupiter and thus do not add to the total gunas in the system. We will cover these planets in another post.
So now our order looks like: Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter and Saturn
At n = -∞, we get Y = 0.4 and this is the exact location of the Planet Mercury. Quantitatively -∞ and ∞ are the same. And this is likely why mercury get the last position after Saturn being quantitatively the farthest planet.
At n = -1, we get Y = 0.55. There is again no planet at this location. Given that -1 is not a whole number, it is not indicative of a physical planet. However, something magical is present temporally at this gravity lock. The Haley’s comet is ~ 0.55 AUs from the Sun in its closest transit and moves in a retrograde motion. Ketu is another word for a Comet. This also indicates why disasters are associated with the transit of comets as an omen. Their presence in our neighborhood impacts the mind, bringing forth the physical reality associated with it. It is also considered a great time for inner work and spiritual blessings all consistent with Ketu’s significations. Thus, this gives us the location of Ketu before Venus (0.7).
So now the order is solved for as: Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury. No longer a mystery to us!
This brings us to the next question, why are the durations of the MahaDashas of these planets so? (Ketu = 7, Venus = 20, Sun = 6, Moon = 10, Mars = 7, Rahu = 18, Jupiter = 16, Saturn = 19, Mercury = 17)
We will explore this in the next post!
