Bangladesh: The Echoes of Surya Putra, Karana
|| om Hrim Suryaya Namaha ||
Anga, the kingdom allotted to Karana by Duryodhana in order to officially declare him a kshatriya and thus eligible to fight Arjuna, is still reverberating with the energy of its once king, Surya Putra, Anga Raja, Karana.
The kingdom expanded with the addition Vanga, Kalinga, Malava, and Magadha notably under his rule. The capital city of the kingdom, Champa, was also marked by Varahamihra as the capital of the kingdom that was ruled by Surya. Today this part of the world is the state of West Bengal and parts of Bihar in Bharat and the nation of Bangladesh. The nation of Bangladesh, previously East Pakistan, was formed post the surrender of the Pakistani army to the Indian Army in the 1971 liberation war. The Instrument of surrender was signed on the 16th of December 1971 at 4:30 PM at the Ramna Racecourse in Dacca (now Dhaka).
DARKNESS Descends on the Nation
We should also look at the chart of the Nation of Pakistan to better understand the circumstances in the creation of the Nation of Bangladesh in 1971.

The smoldering battlefield
The troubled son of Surya left his mark on this event with a Surya in Moola gandantha, Sandhi with a Sankranti dosha. This ensures that the houses lorded by the Vara lord Guru are effectively destroyed. Dhanu rashi, ruled by Guru, houses the gandantha Surya and also happens to be a Daghdha rashi, burning up its residents. The lagna lord Shukra is conjoined this Surya and consumed in the flames, not of combustion, but of the kshetra.
Shukra is also the tithi lord of a Krishna-chaturdashi Chandra and has 4/6ths consumed the Tithi creating a destructive force aimed at “maternal relatives”. Karana’s spite for his mother’s side of the family is still active and echoing through time. The battlefield represented by Sagittarius is still burning, smoldering, millenniums after his departure.
The Story
With mutual drishti, Shani and Mangal are in a Yama yoga with a cursed Mangal and a blessed Shani. Shani is the Yogakaraka for Vrishabha lagna however here in Maranakaraka sthana. This complex relationship further adds to fuel to the burning embers in the battlefield.
Moon and Ketu are in Rashi Parivartana bringing some maranakaraka energy to Jupiter. This yoga is very crucial for the chart as it is part of the Jaata rashi, in trines to the arudha lagna and kendra to the moon. The story of the nation unfolds with this yoga of Moon and Ketu. The Jagannatha dreshkhana shows this same combination in the 3rd bhava.
Rahu in Maranakaraka sthana complicates the religious dynamics of the nation as we can see the significant change in demographics from creation of the nation till today.
The transits and prevailing dashas are ushering in the next chapter in the Nation’s story tied to the battleground still left burning from its once troubled king. Though the fingerprint of Anga Raja Karana is visible here for the nation of Bangladesh, we can expect a similar environment in what is today Bharat’s West Bengal which however, under the aegis of Bharat, is somewhat shielded.
